The 1st annual Montreal Yoga Festival is happening this weekend and tickets are still available. Montreal is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and a wonderful place to host a gathering of music and yoga. Sweet Life Music and Namaste Productions are thrilled to announce the Montreal Yoga Music Festival coming to Montreal July 14th and 15th, 2012 at Concordia’s Loyola campus and sponsored by the Concordia Music Department.
This first music and yoga festival is about celebrating life and connecting with yourself and your community through a rich cultural, social and musical experience. Expect new and diverse kirtan music from a wide range of artists including:
Namo Shanti, a group of musicians/yoga teachers who propose an interactive chanting experience based on kirtan tradition.
Lea Longo (co-founder of the Montreal Yoga Music Festival) is a Montreal songwriter and kirtan world chant artist. Lea travels with musicians sharing the Naada Yoga throughout Us and Canada. Lea’s voice has been described as spiritually rewarding, soothing and mystifying. She has recorded and released 3 CD’s. Her website is www.lealongo.com
Mandala Kirtan is a trio from the the Sherbrooke region dedicated to sacred, devotional call and response chants in English, French and Sanskrit. The group is made up of the wornderful sounds of harmonium, guitar, sitar and vocals of Geneviève Grenier, Marie-Josée Veilleux and Michel Grondin.
The Bhakti Connection. The Bhakti Connection is an Ottawa based Kirtan ensemble that has been together since 2007. Bhakti Connection leads chanting at various yoga studios and events in Ottawa, Montreal and the surrounding regions.
Family-friendly yoga will be offered under the ZEN DEN by renowned yoga teachers to round out this fantastic outdoor experience. Be taught by some one the most sought after teachers in our community!
Dr. Madan Bali s the founder-director of Yoga Bliss, a research and training center since 1969, based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Dr. Bali has developed a unique method of yoga asanas, pranayama, bandhas, and kriyas, combined with metaphysics to help integrate and refine the subtle body and transcend into infinite and timeless essence.
Mark Darby’s wisdom and warmth attract a vibrant community of students who are drawn to his humour, his attentive nature and his steadfast commitment to improving each student’s physical alignment. Darby gives workshops all over Europe, Canada and the United States, and spends a few months a year with his master in Mysore. He recently released his video, The Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series.
Shabad Saroop Singh Khalsa is a certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor, co-founder and director of Equilibrium, and an independent business owner. In 1981 he met Yogi Bhajan and has since studied under his personal tutelage. He has been teaching Yoga for 30 years and regularly travels to study and deepen his knowledge of yoga. Shabad shares the teachings of yoga with a rare warmth, humanity, wisdom and a sense of humor. Teaching for him is a vehicle to serve others and to contribute to the uplifting of humanity.
Jen Mallin (Zen with Jen). Jen’s passion for children has earned her the privilege to be a full time kids yoga instructor in several public and private schools across Montreal. Her yoga program consists of interactive stories with virtuous themes incorporating yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation and concentration games as well as guided relaxations.

Two days of live music will fill the air from morning to dusk at the 1st Annual Montreal Yoga Music Festival! Unique adult and children’s yoga classes will complete the week-end experience that will be surrounded by a diverse and colorful marketplace filled with local products, services and gifts from sponsors and exhibitors such as Anahatha B&B, Moksha Yoga NDG, My Yoga Online and CE Love Asana.
