The 22nd Annual High Sierra Music Festival offers something for everyone. Located in Quincy, CA in the heart of the Sierra’s this festival combines music, art, yoga and so much more. Tickets are still available and what better way to celebrate the holiday.
Not only do you get to enjoy some of the best music around, but also prepare yourself for another glorious day at High Sierra by connecting your mind, body and spirit with a variety of outdoor playshops! All hour-long classes are held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the lawn between the food court and the Grandstand Meadow entrance.
Vinyasa Flow ~ 9am
Rise and shine! Ann Marie & Jani will guide you through a beautiful & balancing Vinyasa Flow. Your practice will begin with some mindfully-paced sun salutations, then flowing into strengthening standing poses, and finishing up with a soothing hip opening sequence. As the weekend evolves we may toss in some partner-work, inversions and arm balances. Ann Marie (owner of NamasteTruckee.com) and Jani are long time Tahoe residents, come join us – Namaste!
AcroYoga ~ 10am
See what all the fun is about! AcroYoga is a playful blend of Yoga, partner acrobatics and Thai massage- a great way to start your day! Together we will balance, stretch, support, fly, connect, smile and cheer. Anastasia and Jowee are certified AcroYoga instructors, who are proud to bring the practice to High Sierra. No partner or experience needed, just a smile and an open heart. Bring a mat if you have one, too!
Pilates ~ 11am
Margy returns to lead Pilates, a type of exercise that focuses on correct skeletal alignment and movement patterns. Pilates strives to achieve a balance between musculoskeletal stability and mobility, important for both performance improvement and injury prevention.
Hatha Detox ~ 12pm
Join us at high noon to “loosen up” and sweat out all those party toxins in preparation for another fun night. Harness your pranic energy by using the breath to help detoxify the body and guide you through your asana practice. After building up the energy in the body with sun salutations, we will cool it down with a chakra flow aligning the mind, body, and spirit. Don’t forget water and a towel it will be hot! Darin and Lacey are co-owners of the “ZAZEN” Yoga Center with two SF locations – www.ZazenSF.com.
Chakra Meditation ~ 1:30pm (Mineral Building, Sat & Sun ONLY)
Join Ann Marie Sheridan and Dr. Kirsten Mackey to re-balance and listen to your mind-body connection. This guided meditation will begin with breath-work & chanting, followed by periods of delightful silence. Whether or not you have a steady meditation practice, all are welcome to attend. You might like to bring something comfortable to sit upon or lay on. Be well – Namaste!
Laughter Yoga ~ 4pm
Experience the many health benefits of laughter! Laughter yoga combines the deep breathing practice from yoga with unique laughter exercises to encourage healthy, hearty, sustained laughter in all participants. The goal in laughter yoga is to get in touch with our childlike playfulness and to promote a joyful spirit. Rebecca Brown is a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher based in Reno, NV.
Poi Spinning ~ 5pm
Designed to open up the world of flow in your life for all levels, this playshop will explore our individual flow. Poi Spinning combines aspects of martial arts with dance and yoga to bring a sense of balance and strength to your body and life.
Holistic HoopDance ~ 6pm
Join us for this multi-level, all-ages playshop! Beginners will receive an introduction to the movements, motions and flow of the hoop. Experienced hoopers will be challenged with more advanced moves. Learn skills that enhance body awareness, hand/eye coordination and balance.
Zumba ~ 7pm
Join Christie and Jennifer from Quincy for Zumba, the only Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that blends red-hot international music and contagious steps to form a “fitness-party” that is downright addictive. All levels welcome, get ready to Zumba!
